Full Description
{1} A number of miscellaneous notes in David Hall's archive. Excavations were undertaken by David Hall in the 1960s and again in the 1985 during the construction of the bypass. A medieval building was found, known as the Miller's House since the field was Mill Close in 1591. A high class building? A large area was not excavated. No Saxon sherds or wooden structures were noted. There is little 15th century activity in the area looked at and certainly none of the 16th century. Possibly early desertion? Was the whole area demesne with no later village desertion, but a 16th century park maybe?
