Full Description
{1} Built for the Squires of Wootton in the late 18th or early 19th century. Built of white Kingsthorpe stone. The last of the direct line was William Oliver Harris who inherited the hall in 1851. It was subsequently let to various tenants. In 1911 dry rot was found throughout the house. It was decided to demolish the house and rebuild it on another slightly to the south of the original house. The new hall was requisitioned during World War II as a maternity hospital before being purchased by the county police force in 1947 for use as the county headquarters.
{2, 3} The maps show the original hall in 1885 and the replacement in 1966. In both maps there a U-plan building located to the north-east; this is probably a stable block (now demolished)
