Summary

A springhead, found during wider archaeological excavation, had been modified during the Roman period. A sequence of infilled pits and overlying consolidation layers were excavated.

Full Description

{1} The Upper Springhead was located to the west of the more heavily modified Lower Springhead. The Upper Springhead was characterised by a series of pits which had been covered by layers of consolidation material. A chatelaine set was recovered from the earliest consolidation deposit.
