Description
The works revealed an Iron Age settlement formed of multiple variously sized enclosures. These were altered and expanded in the Roman period and there was evidence for workshop areas. The main period of occupation was during the early/mid Roman period with activity declining by the late Roman period. Two springheads were utilised, with origins likely in the late Iron Age period, which continued to be used throughout the Roman occupation of the site. A timber-lined tank was constructed at the lower springhead along with an associated wattle fence and stone-lined drain.
