Monument record MNN173807 - Probable Iron Age/Roman settlement, east of Ditchford Lane

Geophysical survey has identified a series of rectilinear and curvilinear enclosures, boundary ditches and probable roundhouse ring ditches. Part of a possible field system was also identified. Some of the features are located in areas previously thought to have been quarried.

{1} Geophysical survey undertaken in 2022 identified a complex of rectilinear and curvilinear enclosures with possible internal features along with possible ring ditches and associated linear features.

{2} Geophysical survey along the Stanton Cross pipeline route identified further elements of the probable settlement including a few smaller enclosures in the north and a larger, rectangular enclosure encompassing various ring ditches and pits to the south. A previous survey in 2022 [above] detected the western continuation of this site, and a series of other ditches which probably defined part of a field system.
