Full Description

{1} A concentration of Romano-British ditched features was identified within Trenches 168-172. The remains comprised a series of linear and curvilinear ditches on varying alignments, several corresponding with geophysical anomalies. Some ditches intersected or truncated others, indicating multiple phases of land division. The features are interpreted as components of an enclosure and field system forming part of a wider organised agricultural landscape. No structural remains were identified and the character of the remains suggests agricultural rather than domestic use. The enclosure system is considered likely to have formed part of the periphery of a wider Romano-British settlement landscape identified elsewhere within the site.
