Full Description
{2} A massive bank 3m high x 10m wide runs round the hillside near the top of the scarp (at SP573547). It has a wide ditch behind it for most of its length. This may be the "fosse" and "entrenchment" mentioned by Baker in the C19th. ON a map of 1742 the ditch is shown as a road, then still in use, which together with the existing lane to the south formed a loop east [NB. Should read 'west'] of the village, stretching as far as Preston Capes Farm.
