Full Description
{1} Tumulus, still quite distinct nearly at the top of Badby Hill, half a mile from Badby village, just inside a field to the west of the highway.
{4} Mound (SP 56086009), possibly a windmill mound, lies immediately W of the Daventry-Banbury road, N of the village on the N side of the Nene Valley, on clay at 155m above OD. It was recorded as a 'tumulus' in 1923 and was marked as such on OS maps from 1923 to 1950. A more recent record suggests that the mound was one of a former group of barrows, but no evidence for this theory exists.
{5} Two mounds on road from Badby to Daventry.
{7} Owner: David Fennel of Bridge Hill Farm.
{8} This feature is now much spread by the plough. No ditch is visible, and it is too reduced now for any classification to be attempted. The position would be quite suitable for a barrow. There is no record of any excavation. See 25" survey.
