Full Description

{1} The deserted hamlet of Charlock is east of the site of a former farm known as Old Charlock.

{2} Building recording survey was undertaken prior to conversion to residential use. The two barns formed what was the western range of a quadrangular farmstead present on the 1839 Tithe Map. The farmstead may have originated in the 18th century, but the remaining buildings were much altered and there were few diagnostic features. If the large opposing doors in the northern section are primary, then it is likely that it was built as a threshing barn and was probably once taller. The southern range may have been open fronted and may have been a shelter shed.
