Abstract/Summary

Planning permission has been granted for the conversion to residential use of a much-altered range of agricultural buildings, the remains of Old Charlock Farm, situated a little to the south of the village of Abthorpe in the western part of Northamptonshire. The building is not listed but is considered to be a non-designated heritage asset. It is relatively close to the present Charlock Farm, a Grade II listed early-19th century model farmstead which was effectively its replacement. The local planning authority required an archaeological record and understanding of the building and a full photographic record of it in its present condition.
