A Roman kiln is said to have been discovered and destroyed during construction of the M1.

{5} "Information about the Whilton kiln was given to me orally by Mr David Smith, Northampton. He said a labourer who worked on the M1 motorway had reported the find to him. This site is therefore very suspect."
