Monument record 1160/0/87 - Possible Medieval road surface

Archaeological observation of a sewer trench excavated in 1975 identified a sequence of possible medieval road surfaces.

{1}Horsehoe St Sewer trench. South of island on St Peter's Way. Metalled road surfaces possibly Medieval seen in N/S trench. Roads appear to be aligned E/W.,

{3}Horseshoe St Sewer trench south of island on St Peter's Way. Road surfaces recorded to a depth of 2.6m. Possibly Medieval.,
