A tree which stood within the former Royal Forest of Whittlebury. "Standing " here means a place from which to shoot at game. The tree was removed in 1967.

{1} Fieldname: King's Standing Oak. At SP76184103.
{2} A "Standing" is a hunter's station from which to shoot game; Whittlebury was a Royal Forest.
{3, 5} Removed twelve months prior to 1968.
{4} Although source {3} states that the oaks were removed, there are still two oaks (one 'blasted') still standing at this location.
