Full Description
{2} South and west of the underpass [beneath Great Billing Way] two east-west ditches were observed during housing development. They were c2 or 3m wide by 1m deep and V-shaped in section. South of these an area of stones, perhaps a paved yard, including a quern and shaped block of tufa, yielded traces of metalworking and 2nd-4th century pottery. Three 4th century coins and a tiny brooch were widely dispersed over the area.
{3} Excavation revealed boundary ditches, pits and stone areas with Romano-British pot sherds, a quernstone, four Roman coins, slag, metalwork, a brooch and a fragment of tufa. Found during the construction of Great Billing Way. Indicates a small C2nd to C4th Romano-British settlement.
