Full Description

{1} Earthwork of post medieval duck decoy pond. A complete and rare example of its kind. Made in 1885 for Lord Lilford of lilford Hall. Triangular, with three pipes, one at each corner. Surrounded by a small drainage ditch of irregular polygonal form. Plan. TL00838040.

{7} There is a broad, substantial bank (very approx 5m wide), located outside the polygonal enclosing ditch to the decoy. This most evident along whole of south side of the decoy and to a lesser extent its west side; much less convincing along the north side. Bank is covered in nettles rather than tree/scrub so suspicion is that it is a modern bund created during adjoining gravel extraction. No bank is portrayed on the 2nd edition OS plan, the first mapping the decoy.
