Full Description
{1} Wooden object found by Mrs. Holland in what was probably backfill from recent gravel-extraction. The object, roughly oval in cross- section is 0.53 m long with one end broken and the other deliberately pointed. The pointed end is perforated with two circular holes, each 0.26m diameter. Mr. A. Aberg has suggested that the wood may have come from the lower part of a handle of a two-handled plough. This was in use from the Roman period until the 19th century.
