Fieldwalking survey in 1991 found a number of prehistoric worked flints as well as small amounts of Iron Age and Roman pottery. A possibly significant quantity of early-middle Saxon pottery was found

{1}FLDWKG; MAY 1991; M.WEBSTER; 40 FLINTS & 35 SHERDS RB POTTERY (1);

{2} 42 pieces of worked flint and 4 burnt flints were recovered, as well as 3 sherds of Iron Age pottery and 25 sherds of Romano-British pottery. 20 sherds of early middle Saxon and a single sherd of middle Saxon Ipswich ware are also included.
