Full Description

{1} Finds made in September 1926. Two late Saxon or Viking iron spearheads, a knife and an inlaid stirrup. Also two flint scrapers, a chert flake and two pig vertebrae, presumably from a single burial. Finds were made during bridge widening, between 7-9ft down into black silt. Kennett lists only one spearhead.

{2} Viking finds from Finedon Bridge in 1926. Animal bones, two iron spearheads, an iron knife and stirrup are all classified as Viking.

{5} (SP 90816966). Two flint scrapers, various bones, two iron spearheads and an iron knife found 7-9ft down from present surface in black silt. Finds made during bridge widening in September 1926. Now in Northampton Museum; donor Mr Pollock, 136, Ashburnham Road, Northampton.

{6} Northampton Museum retain the following from "Finedon bridge widening 1926":- Two iron spear heads, one iron knife, one iron stirrup (all classified as Viking), a chert flake and animal bones; no flints are held and none are mentioned in the museum records.
