Full Description

{2} Fieldname: Gravel pit.

{3} Finds have included worked flints, animal bones and fire-blackened pebbles, associated with a scatter of stone and lines of ditches which appear in the plough soil. Iron Age pottery, including a near-complete bowl, was discovered in the excavation of a shallow ditch

{5} (SP 830590) IA Sherds, R Hollowell (? or Saxon Prof Hawkes). Trench 1962, stone scatter.

{6} Northampton Museum note the classification of the pottery now agreed by Hawkes as IA 'B' but the nature of the site is still undetermined.
