Summary

Fieldwalking survey identified Mesolithic and Neolithic worked flint. Subsequent excavation identified Neolithic pits.

Full Description

{1} Fieldwalking recovered 141 Neolithic flints and 2 Neolithic axe fragments.

{3} 330 Mesolithic and secondary Neolithic flints including Mesolithic blades and cores, two Neolithic flint arrowheads, and a neolithic axe fragment. The flint scatter continues to edge of alluvium and presumably runs beneath it.

{5} Flint working site (SP 896646), in the N.E. of the parish, close to the R. Nene, on alluvium at 45m above OD. Worked flints said to be of Mesolithic type have been found.

{7} Three late Neolithic pits [8516, 8517 and 8574] lay over a 40m by 20m area on the western side of Field 3 close to the location of the early Neolithic pit.
