Full Description

{1} Finds made in a quarry in 1904-13, include palaeolithic waste flakes, flake tool and an early Achulean handaxe; found in a small gravel pit;

{4}The grid reference should be treated with caution since it was only recorded in 1952 by the curator of Northamtpon Museum. It is not known on what bases he identified this particular small quarry (from the others in the area) as the palaeolithic findspot.

{6} 3 hand-axes, and several flakes including one re-touched.

{8} "3 handaxes (and one of uncertain age, possibly Pa). One flake implement. Now in Northampton and Peterborough Museums."

{9} These finds were apparently not heavily "rolled" and may indicate the survival of in situ or primary context Palaeolithic deposits.

{10} Pa implements found in the gravel pit at Earls Barton, 1904.
