Full Description

{1} Fieldwalking in March 1971. A large area of stone scatter was seen to the rear of The George Public House, Wilby (at SP86956620). 102 medieval pottery sherds were collected.

{2} Fieldwalking carried out in George's Close and Narrow Close. A stone area and 102 medieval and post medieval pottery sherds were found. Finder: R.Harper. Fieldwalking on 30/3/1975 recovered another 63 medieval pot sherds as well as 3 prehistoric flints.

{3} To the north-east again, behind The George public house quantities of medieval pottery, mainly of C12th to C14th date, have been noted in the ploughed land, concentrated in two areas, one of which also contained much stone rubble. Post medieval pottery has also been found.
