Monument record 2094/0/27 - Possible Prehistoric Enclosure & Pit Alignment

Cropmarks of an enclosure and a pit alignment with Roman pottery and a ditch.

{1} Cropmarks recorded by Hollowell at SP80526391. A single-ditched, sub-rectangular enclosure c.0.3ha in area. A possible pit alignment runs north-west from the enclosure towards another pit alignment. Trial excavation in 1972 by NDC Archaeological Unit in the area of the single-ditched enclosure. No features were identified.

{2} Double and single ditched rectangular enclosures located at 805640, in the parish of Billing by Hollowell using aerial photography.
(Nothing visible on available APs (RAF 1948)).

{4} R Hollowell confirms the site, but has not yet perambulated it. Field under corn.

{5} SP 804642. Further enclosures of uncertain date seen on air photograph. A few Roman sherds found by J Williams and J Small
