Summary

Ring ditch and cropmarks of a field system revealed on aerial photography between 1967 and 1978. The marks are on arable land close to the edge of a low river terrace. Finds of worked flints and sherds vicinity suggest a prehistoric to Roman date.

Full Description

{1} A few worked flints and two Roman sherds found at SP716683. SP 714 685: Circular and indefinite cropmarks found by aerial photography in 1967.

{2} Worked flints of Neolithic and Bronze Age types and two Roman sherds have been found in the vicinity of the cropmarks at SP715685.

{3} Fieldwalking recovered Neolithic and Bronze Age flints, and two Romano-British pot sherds.

{4} Worked flints and Roman pottery were found here in 1968.

{5} These marks fall on arable land close to the edge of a low river terrace. There are no surface indications.

{6} SP 716 685: A possible ring ditch and field system on AP in 1978.

{8} The land is arable; no other finds have been recorded.

{9} Mr Moore retains the finds, made from 1964 onwards while fieldwalking and confirmed that the finds came from an area centred SP 716 683. The flints range from Neolithic to Bronze Age.
