Monument record 4660/1/1 - Possible Prehistoric Round Barrow or Medieval/Post Medieval Windmill Mound

Summary
Mound circa 18yds diameter 2ft high with traces of a ditch. The field in which it lies is called Bury Hill on a map of 1725. Possibly a round barrow or windmill mound.

Full Description
{1}{2} Circular mound 16m diameter x 0.25m high with slight traces of surrounding ditch about 3m wide. The field has slight traces of ridge and furrow but it is impossible to say if this pre-dates the mound. It may be barrow but could also be a medieval windmill mound. Field name: Bury Hill.
{2} SP 7343 5160 Probable barrow c.18yds. in diameter and 2ft high;traces of a ditch.Seen in pasture May 1970. Field known as Bury Hill on map of 1725 (Northants Record Office 455F.). Little of it left by the 19thc.
{3} Little of the mound was left by the mid 19th century.
{4} Mound is also located along alignment of spoil heaps relating to construction of Blisworth Tunnel along Grand Union Canal and may merely represent another heap of spoil.
