Full Description
{1} Field name: Temple Hill.
{3} Enclosure on Temple Hill. The hill has been extensively quarried and is covered by large pits. The enclosure partly overlies these and consists of a roughly rectangular area bounded by a bank and with traces of an outer ditch. Except for the south-east corner where the bank remains 1.5m high the rest of the feature has been ploughed and reduced to a height of only 0.5m. The interior is uneven and much lower than the surrounding land, mainly due to quarrying, probably associated with the park landscaping. Earthwork plan: Fig.70.
{4} The earthwork shown at Temple Hill is a landscaped quarry feature contemporary with surface quarrying that covers the summit of this hill.
{5} A building within an enclosure is shown on aerial photos. A possible entrance is shown with ditched trackway running from the centre to the north side, and internal features are also visible. NCCAP:SP5657/001+4-5.
