Monument record 5127/0/1 - Possible Iron Age enclosure

Iron Age ditches were found during trial evaluation in 1989. Further undated ditches, probably part of a small enclosure, and pits were found immediately to the east in further trial trenching in 2013

{1} Trial excavation in 1989 by M.Shaw as part of the Upton Survey. Iron Age ditches were found cutting a gravel subsoil.

{3} Two narrow and a wide ditch, containing three sherds of Iron Age pottery. 1 worked flint and 2 Roman sherds were also found in the spoil from the test pit.

{6} Trial trenching at Upton Lodge in 2013. Trench 98 contained ditches that were probably part of the circuit of a small enclosure and associated features. A number of pits recorded may have been internal features.
