Full Description

{2} The suface finds from fieldwalking at this point suggest that they derive from material washed down the slope from the other side of the present road.

{3} Fieldwalking identified two flint concentrations at either side of a small pasture field; it seems likely that they both form a single larger scatter, particularly as they have similar compositions. The concentrations are largely made up of a combination of regular debitage and parent material with more even distributions of scrapers and other implements.
A minor concentration of Roman pottery was also seen, which probably formed an outlying part of the Middle Sands settlement partially masked by hillwash (HER ref. 1346).
