Description
{1} Fieldwalking undertaken as part of the Raunds Area Survey. An ares of gravel terrace, partly covered by alluvium and located between the River Nene, Chelveston Brook and a minor tributary to the north-east, contains a number of early prehistoric sites and Roman monuments. Part of the area was fieldwalked by the Survey, the remainder including the field containing the long barrow was pasture. Fieldwalking identified two flint concentrations, each 1ha in extent, either side of a small pasture field, suggesting they were part of a larger, single spread. A spread of Roman pottery lead to the discovery of a villa.
