Monument record 728/2/1 - Site of possible medieval Manor House

Summary

The main medieval manor house had already been destroyed by the 18th century. It is said to have stood to the north-west of the church; earthworks around the Old Rectory appear to be late 16th- or early 17th-century garden remains relating to the manor.

{1}{2} Maps of 1726 and 1767 show only the present Rectory in this area.

{4} Documentary evidence for a medieval manor house. The medieval manor had been totally destroyed by the early C18th.

{5} It stood to the north-west of the church.
