Full Description
{1} Group of postholes suggest structure 5.4m wide, layer of burnt clay 20mm thick could represent hearth related to structure. Spindle whorl made from base of Roman grey ware vessel found in one of the postholes. 108 pottery sherds recovered from site mainly late Saxon (c800-c1100) with only 9 sherds of medieval pottery (c1100 - c1400). Structure appeared to be located in an isolated position - no boundary ditches or other features in close proximity.
