{1}TRIAL EXCN; JULY 1991; NAU CONTRACTS (1);

{2} A limestone surface was encountered along the western side of Trench A, through which a posthole had been cut. 31 sherds of pottery were recovered from a sandy loam beneath the limestone, dated to AD 1150 at earliest, although the bulk of the pottery was of late Saxon date.
