{2} Arthur Brooks at Oakley Magna.

{3} A good manor house built of stone in 1555. Wheeler Brook Esq, present Lord of the Manor. Brooke mentioned in II Hen VII.

{5} A rough sketch titled 'Design for Great Oakley House and Grounds' which is focussed on the area to the south of the hall. Suggests the landscape park was created/modified in this period.
