Find Spot record 95/2/1 - Unstratified, Undated Iron Slag

Areas of charcoal and iron slag indicate a possible Iron Age or Romano-British bloomery site. The site may, however, be Medieval.

{1} One of a number of possible industrial sites south of the village. An area of iron slag was found similar to those of known Iron Age or Roman sites although later work suggests these might be medieval

{2} Fieldwalking identified a slag patch.

{5} This area was assessed as part of the Bedford Borough NMP project. No features as described above at {1} were visible on any of the available aerial photographs taken between 1944 and the present.
