Summary

The remains of the Wilbarston dovecote now forms part of the the northeast boundary of the primary school playing field in School Lane. All that now survives is the lower section of one wall of the dovecote with 8 surviving rows of nesting boxes. The wall is constructed of coursed hammer dressed stone, the nest boxes form L-shaped openings placed vertically above each other on each row. The dovecote was probably built in the 17th century.

{1}STRUCTURE; DOVECOTE; NCC PROPERTY IN CARE; STRUCTURAL SURVEY CARRIED OUT JANUARY 1993 FOR NCC CONSERVATION SECTION; SURVEY REPORT ATTACHED;

{4} Comprises a single surviving wall from a 17th or 18th century rectangular dovecote with 8 surviving rows of nesting boxes. The surviving section of the north east wall is 9.2m long and 0.79m wide. It contains 8 rows of 17 nesting boxes. The wall is constructed of coarse hammer-dressed limestone and sandstone, and is topped by a coping of narrow, irregular limestone slabs set in cement.
