{2} (SP 7355 6106) Quantity of RB sherds, including Samian found by Mr F B Allen in his father's garden while tree planting; finds sent to Cambridge Museum.
{4} Mr F H Allen, now an architect in Northampton, made the finds when he was a young man, in the garden of his father's house 'Southlands' in The Avenue. The find spot from his detailed description was at SP 7355 6104. He dug up 'about a barrowful' of sherds and a few coins from what seemed to be a rubbish pit. The sherds went to Cambridge Museum, but he retained the coins and they are now confused with others in a small collection he has from the area.
The find-spot is in a small orchard in a southern extension of the garden of 'Southlands'. The house is now occupied by a Mr Jelly, who knew of the find and confirmed the siting. He has done a little digging round about it, but has found nothing significant.
