Summary

Occupation debris, including roof and flue tiles plus Samian potsherds, found at Mountmill Farm in 1965, is suggested to represent the location of a Roman building. The pottery is of 3rd-4th century date.

Full Description

{1} SP761377. At Mountmill farm signs of a Roman building were found during 1965, including roof and flue tile. A 3rd/ 4th century date is suggested by the pottery.

{2} The building can be sited to SP76003771 from occupation debris, which includes Samian pottery. Pottery in Northampton Museum.

{3} Building stone, roof and flue tiles, with pottery including Samian and 3rd and 4th century coarse ware all discovered in 1965, indicating the existence of a Roman building.

{5} Reference in letter the reports of a substantial Roman building found during the construction of the Buckingham Arm canal.

{6} The building can be sited to SP 76003771, from occupation debris, which includes Samian pottery. Pottery found was given to Northants Museum
