Full Description

{1} Grid reference SP67457303 is that of the only nearby bungalow.

{2} A large quantity of Roman pottery was discovered somewhere in the area (of the hillfort) in about 1910 during the digging of foundations for a bungalow. This pottery was given to Northampton Museum. No ngr quoted for finds.

{4} (SP 6722 7290) A large collection of Roman pottery fragments was found and presented to Northants Museum by the Rev J O Hichens of Guilsborough.

{5} The pottery, as far as I can remember, consisted of 2 or 3 small flat lamps, light brown in colour some pots about 4" long, and other fragments. The find was made during the digging of foundations for a bungalow, and the pottery was sent to the museum in 1910.

{6} The late Rev Hichens was vicar from 1902-49 and the only single storied building in the vicinity of the indicated site is the north lodge of the old hall situated at SP 6745 7303. Northampton Museum hold the pottery but can offer no closer siting information.
