Description

In December 1992 to January 1993, the Cambridge office of the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England carried out an earthwork survey of the possible Iron Age hillfort at Guilsborough, Northamptonshire. The survey was undertaken to inform a development proposal, following a request from English Heritage, and was intended to determine the extent and survival of the monument. Ordnance Survey control and some of the larger earthworks were surveyed using a Wild TC1610 theodolite with integral EDM; the remainder of the plan was completed at 1:1000 scale using conventional graphical methods. A report and plans were produced to RCHME Level 3 standard. A grid was also surveyed to facilitate subsequent geophysical survey by the Ancient Monuments Laboratory of English Heritage.
