Summary
A Royal Observer Corps monitoring post. The site was built as part of an extensive network of posts designed to confirm and report hostile aircraft and nuclear attacks on the United Kingdom. It was constructed after World War II and closed in October 1968. At the time of the Defence of Britain survey the site was found to have been destroyed. It was located underground on the south side of the war memorial playing field, close to its south east corner. 200 yards east of public footpath running along the west side of the playing field.

Full Description
{1} In the summer of 1965 the RAF decided it no longer required the services of the ROC in a low-level reporting role. The last 280 or so overground structures became redundant. The East Haddon post opened in 1938 at ngr SP672678, but was resited in 1953 to ngr SP671676.
{2} There were 19 Observer posts in Northamptonshire during WWII. The identifying number for East Haddon was P1. Sited at SP67196787, its date of opening is unknown, but it closed in October 1968. It was visited by Sub. Britt. On 20/02/1999, when it was described as demolished with no trace of any remains.
