Full Description

{1} Kingswell Street parallel to Bridge Street; not marked on map;

{2} Kingswell Street runs parallel to Bridge Street;

{3} Kingswell Street runs parallel to Bridge Street;

{4} Kingswell Street runs parallel to Bridge Street;

{5} Kingswell Street is clearly shown on the Speed map with gabled buildings fronting onto the streets along the northern and eastern edges of the application area. No buildings or other features are shown to the rear of the street frontages.

{6} Along Kingswell Street remains of an old paved road beneath a layer of charred deposits assumed to date from the 1675 fire.

{9} Documentary references to Kingswell Street: Kyngeswellstrete 1431, Kyngewell Street 1504, Kingswell Lane 1618, Kingy Lane 1695. The earliest surviving document that mentions property on Kyngeswell Strete is a Latin Assizes case in 1361.

{10} Cox believed two inns were located on Kingswell Lane: 'The Harp' and 'The Lamb and Flag'
