Full Description
{1}Remains of 18th century lockup or poachers pound, now just a pile of masonry and a partially filled hole. Oral reports claim the structure look like a walled -in cave, with revetting walls curving in to an arched wall-front with a heavy, iron studded oak stable door. The structure had two barrel-vaulted rooms, one with an open fireplace with a brick chimney above. There were no windows or light holes. The structure was used to incarcerate poachers before they were taken before the magistrate the following day. The area is still marked on estate maps as "Cell Quarter".
{2} Collapsed brick vault with a small offset brick flue and spalyed entrance.
