Summary
An imposing Neoclassical stucco house, circa 1836 with late 19th century additions. It has a three-storey centre with pediment shaped blocking course, two-storey recessed wings, lower recessed outer wings, 1:1:3:1:1 sash windows,with glazing bars. Now altered by one storey on left of centre, two storey on right casement bay windows. The rusticated centre of the ground floor has a closed porch with Greek Doric fluted columns in antis. Latterly used as a Pentecostal Church. Demolished in 1980

Full Description
{1} Neoclassical stucco building of circa 1836 with late C19th additions; Welsh slated roof; 2 & 3 storeys; rusticated centre of ground floor has closed porch with Greek Doric fluted columns in antis.
{2} Monks Park Hall shown; most of land incorporated into town's expansion with building of terraced housing etc;
{3} Monk's Park shown.
{4} Monks Park House was situated two miles from centre of town; Elizabethan mansion built in Palladian manner; house was formed of central block with connecting curved wings leading to pavilion blocks; Sir Francis Crane acquired property in 1630; when he died in 1636 estates passed to nephew Francis Arundel; in 1748 passed to Harding family; after 1832 they were gradually dispersed due to expanding growth of town; later passed to Collins & Randall who were influential mayors of town; hall remained in use as flats until 1978 but was demolshed in 1980 due to structural decay;
