{1} Very high sherd density in walled area, plus high background of small white stone fragments and other pebbles etc

{2} In this text there is a passing reference:- ‘several necks of small vessels have been found in the
neighbourhood of Chester House, which have, probably, been lachrymatories. Much of the
pottery found at the above place is of the best Samian ware, richly ornamented, with borders in
relievo.’
