Full Description

{1} Mr Webb introduced extensive sheet of water in front of the house.

{2} Mill still in existance in 1791, was covered by a lake shortly before Baker wrote his description, which speaks enthusiastically of the "judicious embellishments" of Mr Webb.

{3} Kipling made lake.

{4} An ornamental lake later appeared in a private park at Overstone.

{5} A well-marked hollow way runs down the hillside and disappears beneath the waters of the large ornamental lake constructed in the early C19th at the time of emparking.
