Full Description

{2} Lord Hatton and 2nd edition 1791. House shown, but no enclosed park.

{3} Surveys made - show church and village in garden area.Garden accounts, trees, plants, agreement made with gardener for maintenance of garden. Proposals to make estate more economic - 1668.

{4}Now only a single house the seat of the Lord Viscount Hatton "The gardens here are beautiful, stocked with a great variety of exotic plants and adorned with a wilderness composed of almost the whole variety of English trees and ranged in an elegant order. Where the mount now is, a cart load of bones was dug up about 20 years ago. Mentions a view of Kirby in Lord Hatton's time (a painting) showing him returning in his coach. Lord Hatton sole owner of all Kirby enclosures. Will succeeded 1706.

{5} Mansion built 1572 on Priory manor, sold to Sir Christopher Hatton who acquired lay manor and completed enclosure.
