Summary

A sequence of road surfaces was observed in a cable trench along Sheep Street. The road levels extended up to 1.5m below the present road surface. Medieval pottery, animal bone and leather was recovered from an organic layer above one of the road levels

Full Description

{1} Features, 1973, Sheep Street, contractor's trench. Metalled road levels up to 1.5m below the existing street surface were revealed. C12th-C16th pot sherds were found at a depth of just over 1m. SP75356078.
