Summary

Excavation of a Roman site prior to quarrying in 1971 revealed two parallel ditches orientated east-west and 12m apart, traceable for only about 50m.

Full Description

{1} 2 ditches; running parallel about 12m apart; aligned on an East/West orientation; traced for 50m; 2 observations during quarrying in 1971 by D Jackson;

{3} Quarry inspection February 1977. Two ditches with traces of limestone metalling in between. A quern stone and a few sherds of Roman pottery from the north ditch.
