Full Description

{1} Fieldname: Black Hill.

{2} Finds made in 1962 on "Black Hill". A small area of limestone and Roman pottery scatter along with a coin of Antoninianus of Probus (276-81 AD), and two of Constantius II (352-4 AD and 353-4 AD). TL003782.

{3} TL00317820. On the ground a scatter of limestone rubble, probably the remains of a building, has been recorded, associated with Roman pottery and 'dozens' of coins, mainly of the late C3rd and C4th.

{4} Fieldwalking in June 1963. A Roman AE coin of Probus. 5 C3rd and C4th pot sherds were discarded. A stone area was also observed.

{5} An AE coin of Probus, RB sherds and a stone scatter found by D Jackson in June 1963 at TL 0025 7800.

{6} D Jackson (MOW) confirms the above siting {5}. He retains the coin and stated that the sherds (numbering 4 or 5) were 3c/4c; they were thrown away.
