Monument record 2571/0/0 - Probable Romano-British settlement

A scatter of Roman pottery was found during fieldwalking survey. Earthwork enclosures were also noted.

{1} Fieldwalking survey identified a black patch of soil, limestone, pebbles, Romano-British pot sherds and fragment of quern stone. Ditches and soil marks of paddocks were clearly visible. The area was defined by D N Hall (12/12/1979);

{2} Quoted NGR derived from indicated area; the published NGR SP90358547 too specific; G Foard (21/1/1981);

{5} Large site with dark ditches and soilmarks of paddocks visible. Stone and pebble area. Not much pottery. More dark areas at SP90408542.
